He pasado tres fines de semana fuera de Madrid. No he tenido mucho descanso en realidad.

I have been out of
From the very first moment we step out of the bus, we noticed the difference with
The weather was really nice, and the city invited us to keep walking. We had reservations at the Samay Hostel, located on
We walked around the city like really good tourists. We couldn’t use the bike services since we were staying just for two days, but it was easy to notice that a bike ride was the best way to know that beautiful city.
Marlit, Mateja, Filip, Urs and I began walking through the Jardines de Murillo, where we found from a flat soccer ball, games for kids, the monument to Christopher Columbus, and a lot of heat, that city was still living on summer, not like
After noticing how easy it was to ride by bicycle around the city, we got even more surprised when we saw the tram going just next to us, obviously slowly, but it was possible to touch it. And walking and walking we crossed the Jardines
What a wonderful place!!! From outside you got to see big walls, but behind the big principal door, old stairs take you to some balconies from where you can see a colorful and lively plaza. You feel like going back to the past many centuries ago, and it is easy to imagine how many big meetings took place in such a plaza. It is obvious that we took lots of pictures there. And we walked to every single room that was open to the public.
After Plaza de España we went into Parque de María Luisa. It was a botanic park. It was really big, with old big houses and cascades, a family place, where parents could take their children to ride bicycle with any danger, or to see the birds in the small artificial lakes, or for the couples to ride a carriage pulled by horses. We had a great time trying to take a picture over the branch of a big tree, hahaha, it was really funny.
After lunch, but with any lunch at all in our stomachs, we began walking back to the hostel but at the same time looking for a good place to eat. We were really close to get into some restaurants but none of the convinced us, and I think destiny guided us to the ideal place. On the way back we had to cross again through the Jardines del Prado de
As soon as I realized we were inside a big food fair, i began looking for the Peruvian restaurant. Luckily, the Peruvian restaurant found us, since there was one just right behind us. “The first one goes by my own!”, I told my friends, and let them try a delicious Papa Rellena. Just one try was enough to make them order one for each, obviously it came with a Cusqueña beer. I finished buying a Ceviche so everyone could try too. It was a clear situation to demonstrate that at the distance we appreciate more what is ours. All of them finished loving Peruvian food. In the following days I made them try some other Peruvian dishes.
In the afternoon, alter having refreshed and rested a little bit in the hostel, we headed to the other side of the city, always walking. Going up
For me, if i knew more about it, I would write a whole post about that place. What a wonderful place, extremely huge, and different beautiful architectures, and an amazing big garden. I think one day was not enough to walk and see all of it, or even not enough to get lost in the maze of bushes built in the garden. And finish resting under the trees watching the peacocks walking around you. The best of all is that as a student you can see all this for free.
Going out from Reales Alcázares, forced by the guards because it was late and they were closing, we went to the Cathedral of Seville. It was beautiful from outside, since we couldn’t get into because it was already close because of the time. We decided to continue walking, some went into some other place, while Filip and me, tired for having walked so much, went straight to a bar and asked for a beer. And seems like the good luck was still with us, because the beer was perfect, adding that we had some gypsy music being played in there. Marlit, Mateja and Urs joined us to order the second glass.
Back in the hostel, we decided to begin our party night at the terrace, drinking some Spanish beer and playing the countering game in Spanish (since most of us didn’t have Spanish as the main language, just me).
Up in the terrace, we met Ilse, a Dutch girl, who was working in Barcelona for a season, and was taking some days off to travel to other cities in Spain. Some days later we would join with her in Madrid.
Now with one more member in the group, almost matching, we did what the receptionist recommended to us, and look for a place where gipsy music was being placed.
The room was really hidden, most of the people that were inside were tourist and all of them were really focused on the show. We arrived just on time to see a performance from the very beginning and as always I took out my camera and began recording.
A lot of passion in the singing, a lot of rhythm in the guitar and a lot of strength in the dancing, energy was easily felt in the room. Luckily I did record it all since at the end I was told that it was prohibited to record.
That day was really full of activities, we were happy and like this we went to sleep.
The following day, we obviously woke up quiet late, but it let us meet Ilse again and to know Zeina, an Australian girl who was traveling around the world.
When we finished a good breakfast under the sun and seating our peaceful terrace, we went out to continue looking for more places. We went straight to the Cathedral since the day before we couldn’t get into. Since it was Sunday we had to say that we wanted to listen to the mass since they didn’t let tourist get in during the mass, but it was uncontrollable, everybody was taking pictures inside the Cathedral while some others were listening to the mass on other side.
The Cathedral was really majestic, big and with many small details. We had to seat some minutes to listen to the mass, but the rest of the time we were walking around where it was allowed and took as many pictures as they let us take.
Going out from the Cathedral, a flamenco performance caught out eyes. Like real innocent tourists we stood next to the rest of the people to see the strength of the dance. And as real innocent tourist Ilse and me were caught by gypsy girls. Without asking for permission one of them caught my hand, put a small plant on it and began speaking. I and Ilse were separated and they were doing the same to her. Both of us were told the same story, they even told us that we were getting married in a close future and we were going to have children, incredible since we knew each other no more than a day. I didn’t say a word, and I acted like if I didn’t speak Spanish at all, since I was imagining that they were going to ask me for some money. When I answered in English she made a sign to me so I should give her some money, so I gave her 3 euros. She even got a little bit angry and claimed to me telling me that the fare was 10 euros, that everybody would pay that amount. I was still a non-spanish-speaker, so like this I didn’t have to pay the rest of the “fare”. Ilse finally paid 5 euros. At end we were laughing since we were practically married in the gypsy way.
Then, walking along the river, we got to the Plaza de Toros of Seville, and took a tour to know more about the bullfighting history of that city. It was kind of interesting, and made us feel hungry so we went looking for a restaurant where to have lunch. I will difficult forget about the place we finally chose for lunch since they didn’t give us what we paid for, but anyways, things that happen in a trip.
In the afternoon we went to the hostel, took a fast shower and went out straight to the bus station since we had to arrive to Madrid that same night, before the subway closed, it means before midnight.
